How Can I Participate?
All children who read 20 or more books will receive a reading certificate at the end of the summer during the Awards' Night Program.
One top reader will be recognized in the following categories: Preschool - grade 1, 2nd - 3rd grades, and 4th - 6th grades.
HOW TO JOIN?
On June 3rd, pick up your summer schedule, reading log, sticker, and bookmark. Check out books and start reading. Then, list the books you have read on your reading log. At the library, a staff member or teen volunteer will record your books on your registration card for credit toward prizes.
Readers who reach the following levels get to pick an item from the Treasure Chest and will receive:
20 books: Fun food coupon
40 books: Coupon from Burger King
60 books: Coupon from Valley Bowl
80 books: Coupon from Papa John's Pizza
100 books: Chambers County DEWEY, the Turtle, book bag
100 + books: Congratulations...you are a 100 Book Club Member.
No more prizes...keep reading for fun.
You could be a TOP READER!
(Prizes may vary.)
LIBRARY BOOK CLUBS
The Library will recognize readers in our libray book clubs. Participants will be presented ribbons as members of the 100 Book Club, 200 Book Club or 300+ Book Club.
DATES TO REMEMBER
June 3: Come to the Kick-Off and begin checking out and reading books.
July 21: Last day to count books on your Summer Reading Record!!!
July 27: AWARDS' DAY - Fresh Air Film - Taste the Valley!!!
Children should read books on their reading level. Books read that are not on the child's reading level, WILL NOT BE COUNTED toward TOP READER recognition.
BOOKS MUST BE CHECKED OUT FROM THE BRADSHAW OR LAFAYETTE LIBRARIES.
BOOKS FROM HOME OR SCHOOL WILL NOT COUNT
